Introduction
SR Innovations is a Shopify app developer operating under the Shopify Partner Programme. As a condition of the Shopify App Store and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Indian Information Technology Act, 2000, and applicable amendments, we provide documented, enforceable mechanisms for the deletion of personal data upon request.
This page describes the types of deletion requests we process, the Shopify mandatory webhooks we have implemented, how to submit a request, what data is deleted, and what we are legally required to retain.
Our Commitment to Data Privacy
We collect only the data necessary to provide our subscription management services. We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties except as required to deliver the service (payment processors, cloud infrastructure providers) or as required by law.
When you or your customers request deletion of personal data, we act on that request promptly. Deletion is irreversible — we do not maintain shadow copies or back up deleted personal data beyond the retention periods described in Section 7.
Types of Data Deletion Requests
Customer Data Deletion
A merchant's end-customer (the consumer who purchased a subscription from the merchant's Shopify store) may request deletion of their personal data. This request is typically made to the merchant, who then triggers the deletion on the customer's behalf.
Upon receiving a customers/redact webhook from Shopify, SR Innovations permanently deletes all personal data associated with that customer ID from our systems.
Merchant Shop Data Deletion
A merchant who uninstalls the SR Innovations app from their Shopify store may request deletion of all data associated with their store. This includes the merchant's own profile, subscription configurations, customer lists, and usage history.
Upon receiving a shop/redact webhook from Shopify, SR Innovations permanently deletes all data associated with that shop domain.
Shopify Mandatory Privacy Webhooks
Shopify requires all app developers to implement three mandatory privacy webhooks. SR Innovations has implemented all three and processes them automatically within the SLAs described in Section 8.
customers/data_requestTriggered when a customer requests a copy of the personal data a merchant holds about them. SR Innovations compiles and delivers a structured export of all personal data associated with the customer ID to the merchant within 30 days.
customers/redactTriggered when a merchant instructs SR Innovations to delete a specific customer's personal data. Upon receipt, we permanently delete the customer's subscriber profile, subscription history, personal identifiers, and associated analytics data.
shop/redactTriggered 48 hours after a merchant uninstalls the app. Upon receipt, we permanently delete all data associated with the shop domain — merchant profile, all customer subscription data, configuration, and billing history (subject to legal retention obligations in Section 7).
How to Submit a Data Deletion Request
You may submit a data deletion request using either of the following methods:
Option A — Merchant Admin Panel
From your SR Innovations dashboard, navigate to Settings → Privacy → Request Data Deletion and follow the on-screen prompts. This is the fastest path — the request is logged and acknowledged automatically.
Option B — Email Request
Send an email to support@srinnovations.dev with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Please include:
- Your store URL (e.g. yourstore.myshopify.com)
- The customer email address to be deleted (for customer deletion requests)
- Type of request: customer data deletion or full shop data deletion
- Any specific data categories you want deleted, if known
What Data Gets Deleted
Upon a valid deletion request, SR Innovations permanently removes the following categories of data:
What We Retain
We retain certain data where we have a legitimate legal basis to do so. This is not discretionary — Indian law mandates retention of certain financial records, and these obligations apply regardless of a deletion request.
Anonymized aggregate analytics
Aggregate usage statistics that contain no personal identifiers — e.g., 'Feature X was used 847 times in January'. These cannot be used to identify any individual.
Transaction records
Financial transaction records required for tax compliance and GST filing under Indian law (Companies Act, 2013 and Income Tax Act, 1961) are retained for 7 years.
Anonymized audit logs
System security audit logs from which personal identifiers have been removed. These are necessary for fraud detection and incident response.
Timeline
We confirm receipt of your request and assign a tracking reference within one business day.
All deletion operations are completed within 30 days of the verified request, meeting the GDPR Article 17 requirement.
We send a confirmation email when deletion is complete, including which data categories were deleted and which (if any) were retained under legal obligation.
Verification Process
To protect against unauthorized deletion requests, we may verify the identity of the requestor before processing. For merchant requests, verification is typically satisfied by the email matching the store owner account. For customer requests, we may ask the merchant to confirm the customer identity on our behalf.
We will not use verification as a delay tactic. If verification cannot be completed within 5 business days, we will contact you to explain the issue and request additional information.
