Indicative only. Savings are capped at 92% of your bill because fixed and demand charges survive net metering, and lifetime figures assume 3% annual tariff escalation with 0.5% panel degradation. Actual generation depends on roof orientation, shading, tilt, soiling and your DISCOM tariff slab — a site survey replaces every number above with a measured one.

How it works

Survey to grid sync in 25–40 days

The installation itself takes days. The timeline is driven by DISCOM approval — which is exactly the part we handle for you.

1

Free site survey

An engineer measures shadow-free roof area, checks sanctioned load, and inspects the meter and earthing.

PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

The subsidy, explained without the jargon

Residential consumers get a direct bank credit after installation and inspection. Here is exactly how much, and exactly what we do about it.

Central financial assistance by system size
System sizeTypical suitabilitySubsidy
1 kWBill up to ₹1,200₹30,000
2 kWBill ₹1,200–2,500₹60,000
3 kWBill ₹2,500–4,000₹78,000
4 kW and aboveBill above ₹4,000₹78,000 (capped)

₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000. Housing societies for common facilities are assisted separately at ₹18,000 per kW up to 500 kW.

What we do for you

You sign. We file. Nothing in this list is billed as an extra.

  1. 1Register your consumer number on the national portal and link your DISCOM account.
  2. 2Submit the technical feasibility application and track approval daily.
  3. 3Install only with MNRE-empanelled vendor credentials, so your claim is never rejected on a technicality.
  4. 4Upload commissioning photographs, the net-meter certificate and your bank details.
  5. 5Follow up until the subsidy actually lands — usually 30 to 45 days after inspection.

Straight answers

Solar questions, answered honestly

How much rooftop space does a solar system need?

Plan on roughly 70–90 sq ft of shadow-free roof per kilowatt with modern high-efficiency panels. A typical 3 kW home system needs about 220–270 sq ft; a 5 kW system about 350–450 sq ft.

How much can I actually save?

A grid-tied rooftop system in most of India generates about 4 units per kW per day — roughly 1,460 units per kW per year. At a tariff near ₹8 per unit, each kilowatt offsets close to ₹11,500 of electricity annually.

So a 3 kW system typically removes ₹30,000–₹36,000 from annual bills. Use the calculator above for your own numbers.

What subsidy is available, and who gets it?

Under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, residential consumers receive ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above. It is credited directly to your bank account after installation and inspection. Commercial and industrial connections are not eligible for this residential scheme, but may claim accelerated depreciation.

How long does the whole process take?

Physical installation takes two to four days for a home. The full timeline from survey to grid synchronisation is typically 25 to 40 days, because the DISCOM application, net-meter sanction and inspection run in parallel with procurement.

What warranties come with the equipment?

Panels: 12-year product warranty and 25-year linear performance warranty guaranteeing at least 87% output in year 25. String inverters: 5–10 years. Micro inverters: 25 years. Lithium batteries: 10 years or 6,000 cycles. Our installation workmanship: 5 years.

What happens on cloudy days or at night?

A grid-tied system without batteries draws from the grid when generation is low and exports the surplus during the day. Net metering credits exported units against imported ones, so the annual bill is what matters, not any single day. Adding battery storage covers outages and evening load.

Does solar damage the roof or cause leaks?

Not when it is mounted correctly. We use ballasted or chemically-anchored galvanised structures with proper waterproofing at every penetration, and we warrant that workmanship for five years. On a terrace, the panels actually reduce heat ingress into the slab below.

How much maintenance does it need?

Dry cleaning every two to four weeks in dusty regions, and a professional inspection twice a year. Soiling is the single largest avoidable loss — an uncleaned array can lose 8–15% of its output. Two annual service visits are included free for the first two years.
